Blind Loyalty To Trump

I’ve written before (most recently, here) on the all-too common, annoying, disingenuous, and questionably beneficial tactic employed by too many Donald Trump defenders: their determined efforts to justify his conduct when reality does not cooperate. One primary solution: cherry-pick portions of authoritative commentary or evidence, massage them just so, and presto! A contribution to the good fight which, if taken at face value, seems to provide more than ample support for one’s stated position.
The Trump Administration’s recent opposition “research” against Dr. Anthony Fauci is another excellent example, and right from the Oval Office. If integrity doesn’t matter … why not, Right?
Some of us are more suspicious than others — especially when it concerns justifying/excusing/rationalizing almost anything Trump says or does. So, instead of just accepting as gospel whatever information was relied upon to defend Trump, taking a few moments to first examine what was shared seems wise. If the source material is represented…
